Automated Zero Touch

How to utilize automation for Plug-N-Play

LogicVein Zero Touch, also known as Cisco Plug-N-Play,  is a useful tool for distributing configurations to devices on a physically separated network.

There are three main formats in which Zero-Touch distributes configurations.

1) Template - Distribute configations based on templates.  Used when introducing a new device to the network.

2) Self-recovery - Convenient for resetting a device that has been overwritten with an abnormal configuration

3) Restore - Useful for updating device equipment.

Here's a breakdown of what it typically involves:

  1. Automated Deployment: Zero Touch provisioning automates the deployment of software, configurations, and settings across devices or systems. This eliminates the need for manual setup, reducing errors and deployment time.

  2. Configuration Management: It includes tools and processes for centrally managing configurations, ensuring consistency and compliance across the IT infrastructure.

  3. Remote Management: Zero Touch provisioning often allows for remote management of devices or systems, enabling IT administrators to oversee and update them from a central location.

  4. Workflow Automation: It integrates with existing workflows to streamline processes such as device provisioning, software updates, and troubleshooting.

  5. Security and Compliance: Ensures that all deployed devices or systems adhere to security policies and regulatory requirements from the outset.

The figure below shows the flow of processing performed by Zero-Touch, Plug and Play using PnP. To make the diagram easier to read, the DHCP and ThirdEye servers are shown divided, but this does not mean that three computers are used. All three server programs run on the same computer running the ThirdEye server
