Deployment Start: April 2022
Background
The University of Brighton needed a more unified way to manage a modern campus network. Its environment includes HPE Networking, Extreme Networks, and APC infrastructure spread across multiple locations and use cases typical of a higher-education campus.
Before deploying LogicVein ThirdEye Suite, the university relied on several smaller, independent tools. Some products were approaching end-of-life, while others addressed only narrow operational requirements. This created unnecessary complexity for the Network Services team and limited their ability to maintain a clear, current view of the network estate.
Challenge 1: Too many independent tools
Managing the network through multiple point solutions increased operational overhead and made day-to-day work less efficient. Routine operational tasks such as adds, moves, and changes required more manual effort than necessary, while inventory, version, and lifecycle information were difficult to view in one place.
The university also evaluated some single-vendor systems, but found that they did not provide the flexibility required for its mixed-vendor environment.
Challenge 2: Limited lifecycle and operational visibility
The Network Services team needed better visibility into device inventory, software versions, and end-of-life status. Without a centralized and searchable view of the environment, planning refresh projects and maintaining lifecycle awareness required additional effort and manual coordination.
The Solution
LogicVein ThirdEye Suite was selected to consolidate network monitoring and configuration management into a single, flexible platform. The objective was not simply to replace older tools, but to reduce operational complexity, improve visibility, and give the Network Services team a single source of truth for day-to-day operations.
Deployment began in April 2022 and was completed without issue. Any minor issues encountered early in the deployment were resolved quickly through regular product updates and responsive LogicVein support.
Results and Benefits
Since deploying LogicVein ThirdEye Suite, the University of Brighton has achieved measurable operational improvements, including:
- Comprehensive, searchable inventory of network equipment
- Faster completion of routine operational tasks from a single interface
- Simplified adds, moves, and changes using powerful search and filtering
- Better planning and budgeting through dynamic views of device versions and end-of-life status
- Secure, centralized device access via SSH and HTTPS with session logging
ThirdEye Suite has become an important part of the university’s day-to-day network operations, giving the team the visibility and efficiency needed to keep the network running smoothly.
